Details of what's on tap for
Out on Film in October are slowly trickling out as organizers of the gay film festival work to rebuild the its once considerable mojo.
An Atlanta indie film that made a splashy debut at the LGBT festival this summer -- "Rivers Wash Over Me" (photo) from producer Dexter Davis -- will have a prime spot at the Atlanta festival, set for Oct. 2-8 at Midtown Art Cinema.

Contributing blogger Darian Aaron is an Alabama native who now calls Atlanta home. He’s the creator of Living Out Loud with Darian, a blog that offers his take on social, political and religious issues that impact the LGBT community.
The season 4 premiere of
"Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew" introduced America to nine very talented crews, but I can almost guarantee that the crew being talked about the most around water coolers and office cubicles the day after is New York City's
Vogue Evolution.

If you just can't get enough of gay-fav NeNe Leakes from Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," she's scheduled to stop at
Outwrite Bookstore & Coffehouse today at 2:30 p.m.
She's on a publicity tour pitching her new book, "Never Make the Same Mistake Twice." Odd title, since the show just started its second season and critics might suggest Leakes did make the same mistake twice in again hitching her wagon to it.
But that's of little matter to us.
She loves the gays and we return the favor. Outwrite says it's an "unofficial appearance" and she'll be available to sign copies of her book. Maybe she'll dish on part two of the catfight with her castmates that airs tomorrow.

A coalition of seven LGBT and progressive groups is criticizing a satirical ad in
Gaydar Atlanta, claiming the weekly gay nightlife magazine "crassly mocked Muslim culture."
But Gaydar's publisher says the ad -- a fake promotion for "Burqa Ball '09" -- is an attempt to call attention to those who pervert Islam and mistreat women.

You'll have to excuse
For the Kid in All of Us for taking a few weeks to tally all of the stuff they raised at the
4th Annual Backpack in the Park on June 30.
But they finished counting, stuffing and delivering and announced Tuesday that the event helped fill 1,600 backpacks. The packs and the school supplies inside them are distributed to children in need as they prepare for the start of the school year. In short, Backpack in the Park exceeded its goal of 1,200 backpacks with an event taking place in the middle of a recession.
In an email to supporters on Tuesday, For the Kid President Frank Bragg calls the event "a tremendous success."

Conservative pundit
Dick Yarbrough (photo) is fond of the phrase, "sic 'em dogs." But when he utters it, take cover. He wants to unleash the hounds on the gays.
Yarbrough writes in a recent column for the Marietta Daily Journal that city officials should train dogs to attack gay men in two of the city's parks known for gay cruising. His rant comes just a month after Grif Chalfant, a member of the Marietta City Council, called the men who frequent A.L. Burruss Nature Park for sex a
“perverted bunch.”
