Hit musical opens Actor’s Express season

Hit musical opens Actor’s Express season

imageYou’d think the folks at Actor’s Express might take a little break and recharge their batteries.

But the dynamic theater company -- fresh from the highly-successful run of the highly-gay “Zanna, Don’t!” -- is busily preparing for its 22nd season on the stage of its West Midtown complex.

The season launches late next month with a seven-week run of the hit Broadway musical “Grey Gardens.” Throw in a love triangle with a lesbian twist, the homoerotic setting of an all-male prep school, a priest on furlough and a buxom actress in a slasher movie attempting to keep her pill-popping mom in check and you’ve got yourself a season full of entertainment.

Tyler Perry has way more money than you

Tyler Perry has way more money than you

imageTyler Perry is one rich bitch. That the Atlanta director has money is of little surprise -- he sits atop a production studio in south Atlanta that spits out movies and TV shows like a Chinese sweatshop churns out shoes for Nike.

But that he has this much money -- Perry made $75 million last year -- means the glass closet in which he lives is, well, a really, really nice one. It's in Buckhead, of course.

Atlanta’s tops getting busy at record rates

imageWhat we learned on the Internet today:

Georgia ranks among most states in being top heavy -- as in more tops than bottoms. Seriously. That's according to an unscientific study from Manhunt, which trolled its user profiles to find that more of its members in Georgia describe themselves as tops. Keep in mind those categories are self-reported.

Accident leads to ‘better’ My Sisters Room

My Sisters Room reopens on Friday after a five-week closure, something we reported on Monday. And as Southern Voice adds, the East Atlanta lesbian venue is putting the best spin possible on renovations in the wake of a partial deck collapse last month:

“The place just looks really, really clean,” [co-owner Patryce Yeiser] said. “I hate that this [deck collapse] happened, but it was a good opportunity for us to make My Sisters’ Room even better.”
