The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Don’t worry. Not every gay man and lesbian in Atlanta is going to Pensacola. In fact, sticking close to home is just as fun with annual blasts and weekend-long events that up the ante for Memorial Day.

MondoHomo. Atlanta’s annual alternaqueer festival (top photo) hits its second night hard with the Who’s Beats? Our Beats! concert to go with this year’s theme “Queer Justice! American Veterans for Equal Rights LGBT military veterans group heads up its annual Taps & Wreath ceremony at the veterans memorial flag @ 12th Street gate of Piedmont Park, 12 noon.
Memorial Day Cookout. The 3rd Anniversary Party for Mixx Atlanta winds up right where it started, serving up burgers and dogs outside on the patio with all the fixin’s and of course, their full bar to wash it down, 5:30 p.m.
