Warm weather is just around the corner. And with that, the winter’s couch potatoes will soon be up and ready to regain their status as weekend warriors.
For me, that means flag football. I’m a team captain with the National Flag Football League of Atlanta. We just had our preseason clinic and practice starts soon. For those weekend warriors that, like me, enjoy a game of flag football in Piedmont Park, here’s what you can to get conditioned for the upcoming season.

Former escort and porn producer Harlow Cuadra faces a possible death penalty since a jury on Thursday
found him guilty of brutally killing a rival producer.
The case, which unfolded in a Pennsylvania courtroom over several weeks, included
testimony from an Atlanta computer consultant and former escort client of Cuadra.
On Friday, the jury began deliberations on the sentence in what's expected to be a day-long hearing. No jury in Luzerne County has
delivered a death penalty in more than a decade.

The gay victim of an attack in Midtown is speaking publicly for the first time since the attack on Sunday.
John Evans (photo), 28,
spoke to Southern Voice today about the case, his injuries and
inconsistencies in details that have emerged about the case.
“There was two guys, one was black and I don’t know what the other one was. They called me over. Since I’ve been working here [at Joe’s for two weeks now] people have been recognizing me [in Midtown]. I thought it was going to be one of those things, like, ‘Hey, are you the new guy at Joe’s?’” he said.

As the leader of Georgia’s largest LGBT family organization, I frequently talk about helping people explore whether parenting is the right choice for them. Often, LGBT people over 30 didn’t grow up with the expectation that parenting would be an option for them so they haven’t been thinking about it for a long time.
But walk through Decatur or Piedmont Park on the weekend and you’ll see gay couples pushing strollers. That sight is helping people realize they can become parents.
Gay families with children are rapidly becoming more visible. The MEGA Family Project’s programs that help people explore the options available to LGBT people considering parenthood have quickly become our most popular workshops.

Hollis Gillespie, the author of "Trailer Trashed,"
wrote a post on the unintended effects of porn. The money quote:
Today pornography has absolutely no effect on me whatsoever, except as a mild depressant over what’s obviously expected from me as a female these days — all the care and polishing involved with the breast implants, for example, or all the exacting topiary skills needed for uber-precise pube grooming and whatnot. It does a number on you, I swear.
I know what she means. Just like video lust can make women think less of their bust, it can make guys think less of their mess.

It's not a hate crime. It's a hate crime. Now it's a possible hate crime.
The confusion from the Atlanta Police Department over the beating of a 28-year-old gay man on Sunday would be laughable if it weren't such a serious matter. Instead it's just a dizzying example of the police department bungling its treatment of what's becoming a high-profile incident at a time when there is a public uproar over crime in the city
(being led, in part, by a gay man).
