Missing Atlanta lesbian committed suicide

A metro Atlanta lesbian found dead in her sport utility vehicle after missing for nearly three weeks committed suicide, though police won’t offer other details about a case that gained widespread attention.
The body of Lisa Lawson, 40, was found on Dec. 6 just days after her girlfriend, Michelle Alexander, launched a social media campaign to find her and push police to intensify their investigation. Lawson was reported missing on Nov. 19.
On Wednesday, McDonough Police Chief Preston Dorsey told the GA Voice that Lawson committed. suicide. Clayton County police found Lawson inside her vehicle on Dec. 4 as they broadened their search into McDonough’s city limits.
Last Friday, Dorsey declined to tell Project Q Atlanta if his agency was treating the case as a suicide or criminal investigation. Five days later, he emailed the GA Voice with a determination.
Dorsey has refused comment on the case but stated the cause of death was suicide in an email this afternoon to GA Voice. “We do not make any comments on suicides,” Dorsey said.
Details of a memorial service for Lawson surfaced Tuesday on Twitter and were relayed through a Facebook page Alexander created to publicize the case. Since Lawson’s body was found, Alexander has declined to speak publicly about what happened.
