Armorettes go big for 34th anniversary [photos]
The big hat wearing, holiday-tainting ladies of gay Atlanta’s Bestest Drag Show the Armorettes are some big girls. So it’s no surprise that they throw a big party for their anniversary. And this two-night extravaganza comes with cash. About $42,000.
The drag troupe celebrated their 34th anniversary on Saturday at Heretic (photos) and on Sunday at their mainstay bar, Burkhart’s. It’s far different from their recently-razed original home, the Armory. But change is good right? Right.
And over two nights of shows, they dished out the cash—a total of $42,000 to four non-profits. On Saturday, it was $6,000 each to Positive Impact and HeartSong. On Sunday, it was $15,000 each to Someone Cares and Positive Impact’s MISTER Center.
