Asylum adds to East Atlanta’s gay crazy [photos]
East Atlanta’s newest gay bar, Asylum, threw open its doors for a soft opening last weekend that included a 50th birthday party for drag doyenne Kitty LeClaw.
The bar took over and revamped the former home of Echo Lounge on Flat Shoals Avenue, adding a third option to the village that already offers LGBT hotspots Mary’s and My Sister’s Room.
LeClaw’s event, which came after brunch and an afternoon tea-dance, also served as the premiere of Lunacy as the bar’s Sunday drag attraction. Think of it as Kitty’s Meow Mix 2.0 with Savannah Leigh (top photo) and a host of other performers.
