Drag legend Lily White suffers heart attack
Atlanta drag legend Lily White suffered an apparent heart attack on Monday, just 10 days before scores of entertainers and friends hold a benefit to raise funds for her since her home was destroyed in a fire last month.
Charlie Brown, a longtime drag performer and friend of White, announced the incident on her Facebook page.
JUST GOT A CALL FROM LILYS SISTER, THEY RUSHED HIM TO HOSPITAL THIS MORNING WITH CHEST PAINS, HE HAD A HEART ATTACK, 100% FULL BLOCKAGE, THEY HAVE INSERTED A STINX, SHE WILL CONTACT ME AS SOON AS SHE TALKS TO DR. SHE WANTS EVERYONE TO PRAY FOR HIM!!
White, whose legal name is Kyle Dennis Souder, will remain in Redmond Regional Medical Center for the next day or two, Brown said.
In February, White returned to her home outside Rome to discover a fire, which apparently was started by sparks from a neighbor burning leaves. White, 64, rushed inside to pull out her elderly mother and their dog before the fire destroyed their home.
The fire destroyed White’s entire collection of drag accessories and memorabilia. Brown is organizing a March 22 drag benefit with scores of performers to raise funds for White.
