Dream shows potential in home opener

When the Atlanta Dream took to the court on Friday, the celebrities were there in full force.
The Dream dropped the game, though they dominated the first half and provided some exciting basketball moments for the more 10,000 fans in attendance.
“We are making progress as a team,” says Dream coach Marynell Meadors (photo with Ivory Latta). “We were aggressive and defensive tonight. On offense, we just didn’t hit some shots we should make. We will get better. Players felt some success tonight that will carry over to tomorrow’s workout and Sunday’s game against L.A.”
Big names in the crowd included current and past stars from the NBA – Dwight Howard (photo), Josh Smith, Dominique Wilkins and Kevin Willis, local politicians – Mayor Shirley Franklin and City Council President Lisa Borders, and other notable figures – WNBA Commissioner Donna Orender and Andy Landers, women’s head coach at UGA.
