Evolution Project puts on a splashy ball [photos]
With categories including Urban Street Wear, Transman Face and Prettyboy Realness, performers in the black gay ballroom scene worked their best moves for a panel of tough judges and even tougher crowd on Sunday.
The competition came as part of the 2nd Annual Youth Ballroom Awards from Evolution Project, an effort to recognize up-and-coming talent in the ballroom culture. Think glam mixed with pop culture splashed with some real-world, Atlanta twists. Or just watch “Paris Is Burning.”
The event unfolded at XS Ultra Lounge, which is a popular spot for black gay nightlife events. Evolution Project is a community center for black gay men ages 18-28. The agency, an AID Atlanta effort, recently got soaking wet with its Get Em’ Wet Luau (photos).
