Flag football league set for title game
It’s not quite the Super Bowl – there aren’t any commercials or, for that matter, TV coverage – but don’t tell the National Flag Football League of Atlanta.
They take their flag football seriously. On Saturday, the league puts the wraps on a season that started in late March with a semi-final matchup at 10 a.m. and the championship game at noon.
In the first round of playoffs on June 14, the league-leading Broncos downed the Clippers 26-0 and received a bye to the title game. The Pirates beat the Raiders 25-13 and the Wildcats defeated the Rams 21-20.
That sets up a Pirates v. Wildcats matchup for the semifinal on Saturday, with the winner facing the Broncos for the championship. The games take place at Central Park in Midtown.
