Gay Atlanta preps Christmas Weekend nightlife
When Christmas falls smack on a weekend, don’t expect bars and clubs to take it lying down. Places that might normally close for business tear open the shutters and throw up the sash this year, even on Christmas Day.
Holiday parties and toy drives that began the first week of December are still going strong, and just about every weekly event is draped with holiday garland. Every gay bar in town – except for My Sister’s Room, which does give employees the weekend off as part of its ownership transition after Thursday’s North Pole Winter Party – kicks it up a notch on Christmas Eve.
And even on Christmas proper, the long-held bastion of cinemas and Chinese restaurants, some bars offer aid to the holiday weary with special events, including an all-star A Charlie Brown Christmas show (read our Bitch is Back interview) at Burkhart’s and DJ Lydia Prim’s Merry Christmas Dance at Heretic.
Here’s a taste of the holiday fare on tap this weekend that will keep your Yule log burning well into the night.
