Gay bowlers take over Midtown

Nearly 700 gay and lesbian bowlers are in town for a national convention, filling up allies in Midtown and Norcross through the holiday weekend.
It’s the International Gay Bowling Organization’s annul tournament, being held in the Atlanta for the first time in 15 years. I’ve previewed the event on this blog and in Southern Voice.
But the Atlanta Journal-Constitution also noticed on Friday, publishing a 550-word story on its web site. The piece also includes a photo gallery.
I stopped by the action today at Midtown Bowl, interviewed some participants and also snapped some photos. Check back for those.
Events tomorrow include a viewing of IGBO’s two-dozen panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m.
