Gay men go gentlemanly for charity ball [photos]
Hundreds of gay men dressed in their best to impress packed a cavernous Midtown art gallery on Saturday for the decidedly upscale Gentleman’s Ball.
The event from organizers Gee Smalls and Juan Sessions, in its second year, drew a crowd to Mason Murer Gallery for an evening that included hosting from model and actress Eva Maercille, a three-course meal from Food Network Chef Alexis Hernandez, entertainment from gay-fave singer Frenchie Davis—who worked Atlanta crowds all weekend long—and free-flowing booze.
A handful of local celebs made appearances, including “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” gay pal Miss Lawrence (top photo center).
Proceeds from the ball benefited AID Atlanta’s Evolution Project, which is a drop-in center for black LGBT men.
Smalls thanked attendees and sponsors on Monday.
We would like to take a moment to express our deepest thanks to everyone that helped make The 2nd Annual Gentlemen’s Ball a success: The Beneficiary, Sponsors, Volunteers, Staff, Media, and most importantly, YOU. To be honest, the words ‘thank you’ doesn’t quite sum up the enormity of our gratefulness for your support; it extends beyond measure.
We began this journey with a goal to provide a socially conscious outlet by which we could recognize the true essence of who we are as a community - proud, remarkable, dynamic individuals that can come together in a celebratory fashion not just for one night, but for the future as well. We have learned that although we are the creative minds behind The Gentlemen’s Ball, our vision is one that is also shared by you. This makes us happy. This makes us proud. This makes us feel honored.
