At last: Lamar Willis and Nicole Paige Brooks

It’s no secret that Atlanta City Council member Lamar Willis enjoys spending time with his gays. And after last week’s drag-studded PALS anniversary event, it’s also clear he enjoys a rub from a drag queen.

Willis, no doubt looking for a friendly crowd not so concerned with his questionable charity and tax problems, dropped by the Pets Are Loving Support 20th anniversary celebration at Jungle on Feb. 12. The council member, who often holds a party during Pride, carried in hand a resolution from his City Hall colleagues commending PALS for its work.

After that, Willis took his seat and played some bingo with the rest of the crowd. But his round head and big smile got the attention of Nicole Paige Brooks during her performance. Not one to miss an opportunity to have a little fun, Brooks came off the stage, danced her way over to Willis and spent a little time massaging his head and shoulders.

Willis didn’t object. In fact, he even closed his eyes while Brooks worked her magic fingers. Willis later delivered a wad of cash as a tip and snapped a few pics with his camera phone.

The moment proved almost as entertaining as when Michael Julian Bond, returned by voters to the City Council on Nov. 3, celebrated his victory a few days later by stopping by the Eagle and belting out the theme to “Love Boat” during karaoke.
