Black leaders back Obama’s gay marriage stance, DC publisher says superhero will come out, gay advocates urge leniency for convicted Rutgers Roommate, trans Miss Universe contestant, boxer Manny Pacquiao clarifies gay comments, and more LGBT headlines.

• New York City mayoral candidate Christine Quinn weds. The frontrunner for the 2013 race and current City Council speaker (top photo, right) tied the knot with her longtime partner on Saturday with the New York mayor and other high-profile politicos in attendance.

• Gay advocates urge no prison time for Rutgers roommate. Dharun Ravi, convicted of hate crimes in the spycam case austenisbly connected with Tyler Clementi’s suicide, is finding surprising allies among gays urging leniency for his Monday sentencing. UPDATE: Ravi gets 30 days.

• NAACP supports gay marriage. Coming after Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage, and lingering questions about whether it could hurt him among black voters, the group passed a resolution that also echoes their chair emeritus Julian Bond (second photo). Bond was among a group of notable black leaders who spoke up in support of the president’s evolution last week.

• Boxer Manny Pacquiao sorry for gay marriage comments. The boxer and Philippine politician was banned from a mall where he was scheduled to interview with TV’s “Extra” after an apparent misquote attributed to him that all gay couplings are wrong and against the Bible. Pacquiao is against gay marriage, not gays, he says.

• First transgender Miss Universe contestant wins Miss Congeniality. Jenna Talackova (third photo) was initially disqualified from competing to become Miss Universe Canada. She made it not just into the pageant but into the top 12 finalists.

• Forget phonebooths. DC Comics character to come out of the closet. DC Co-publisher Dan DiDio told the Kapow conference in London that an established character will come out as gay in an upcoming series. Which one is the subject of wide speculation by comic fans.

• Colin Firth lands role as Noel Coward. The Oscar winner (bottom photo) will play the gay actor-singer-writer in an upcoming film titled “Mad Dogs and Englishmen.” Firth previously played gay in “A Single Man” and “Mamma Mia!” and starred in the gay-themed “Another Country.”

• Maryland court: Gay divorce OK while marriage isn’t. Same-sex couples can begin marrying in the state in 2013, but in the meantime, the state Supreme Court voted unanimously that a lesbian couple initially denied dissolving their out-of-state marriage can go ahead and divorce.
